Progress on new capacity moving ahead wellNExBTL renewable diesel is currently produced at two plants at the Porvoo refinery in Finland, the first of which was completed in 2007 and the second in 2009, with a combined capacity of 380,000 t/a. Neste Oil is currently building two new NExBTL plants in Singapore and Rotterdam, which are due to come on stream in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Representing a combined investment of around EUR 1.2 billion, these will be the world’s largest renewable diesel plants when completed, with a combined capacity of 1.6 million t/a, and will increase Neste Oil’s current capacity many times over.
The start-up of the second NExBTL plant at Porvoo in summer 2009 went very well, and operations at the plant have been trouble-free. The projects in Singapore and Rotterdam progressed on-schedule and onbudget during 2009.
